Carbs Fuel Bicarb improves high intensity exercise performance by buffering the acid produced during intense efforts.

Our Bicarb reduces the burning sensation commonly felt during physically demanding activities, allowing athletes to push harder and sustain performance across repeated high-intensity efforts.

Carbs Fuel Bicarb is available in your choice of three pre-portioned servings of enteric capsules.

Enteric Capsules

Enteric capsules, often referred to as time-release capsules, are uniquely designed to resist the acidic environment of the stomach and dissolve in the small intestine.

This targeted delivery effectively reduces the risk of GI distress compared to traditional bicarb supplementation.

Bicarbs FAQs

What is Sodium Bicarbonate?

Sodium bicarbonate is a chemical compound, specifically a salt, that is composed of two components; the cation (the positively charged ion) sodium (Na+) and the anion (the negatively charged ion) bicarbonate (HCO3-). Sodium bicarbonate has a  molecular formula of NaHCO3. It is commonly known as “baking soda” or “bicarb”.

If you're interested in learning more, read our sodium bicarbonate blog here.

Why would I use bicarb during exercise?

The primary role of sodium bicarbonate (or colloquially known as bicarb) is to increase the buffering capacity of an individual so that it can help mitigate the decrease in pH that occurs from the production of hydrogen ions (H+; acid) during high intensity exercise.

This allows an individual to exercise at a higher intensity for a greater period of time, pushing harder for longer.

Is Bicarb proven by research to improve performance?

Yes, there are data to support the performance improvements (1-3%) of sodium bicarbonate for short duration (45 seconds - 8 minutes) efforts.

However, there is a growing pool of research data that is exploring the ergogenic benefits of using sodium bicarbonate to benefit endurance performance, specifically in race situations where there can be interspersed high intensity efforts.

How much bicarb is in each enteric capsule?

Each enteric capsule of Carbs Fuel Bicarb contains 1 gram of sodium bicarbonate.
